Client Overview
MessagePay is a text-based payment platform that helps lenders collect loan payments quickly and securely. With a streamlined experience that can take a payment from reminder to completion in seconds, MessagePay makes it easy for customers to pay—reducing friction, improving collection rates, and delivering a better borrower experience.
As the product matured, MessagePay began a broader platform revamp to modernize the user experience and strengthen the frontend foundation for ongoing iteration.
The Challenge
Revamping a live payment platform introduced three key challenges:
-
Modernizing the UI without disrupting a critical workflow
Payments are a high-stakes flow—small UX issues can create big drop-offs. MessagePay needed a modern frontend that improved usability while preserving reliability and clarity across sensitive loan and payment actions. -
Rebuilding complex loan/payment panels with consistent data behavior
Key screens needed to present loan and payment information accurately and consistently—handling different loan states, payment statuses, and edge cases while maintaining a clean user experience. -
Ensuring tight integration with backend APIs during a rebuild
A frontend rewrite isn’t just visual—it requires correct API wiring, predictable loading states, resilient error handling, and data validation. MessagePay needed frontend panels that connect cleanly to existing endpoints while remaining maintainable as the platform evolves.
Our Solution
We partnered with MessagePay as part of the platform modernization effort, contributing frontend development across loan and payment information panels and connecting these interfaces to backend API endpoints.
Frontend Panel Development for Loan and Payment Workflows
We built and upgraded core UI panels that surface loan details and payment information in a clear, user-friendly way. The focus was on creating a modern interface that supports fast comprehension and low-friction actions—important in any financial workflow where clarity drives completion.
API Integration and Data Handling
We connected the new frontend panels to MessagePay’s API endpoints, ensuring data was fetched, displayed, and updated correctly. This included implementing robust loading and error states, handling data formatting for financial information, and ensuring the UI remains consistent across different customer and loan scenarios.
UX Consistency and Maintainable UI Patterns
As part of the broader framework migration, we implemented reusable UI patterns and component structures that make the loan/payment experience easier to maintain and extend. This helped reduce complexity during the rebuild and provided a cleaner base for future enhancements.
Quality Assurance Support During a High-Change Rewrite
During a framework revamp, regressions are common. We supported the delivery process with structured QA around key loan/payment panels—verifying data accuracy, edge case behavior, and ensuring critical user actions remained stable through iterative releases.
Results
-
Modernized loan/payment panels within a new frontend foundation: MessagePay advanced its platform revamp with updated UI components aligned with the latest framework.
-
Clean API-connected interfaces for real-time payment data: frontend panels reliably display and interact with loan and payment endpoints.
-
Improved maintainability during and after migration: reusable components and consistent patterns reduced complexity and supported faster iteration.
-
Reduced risk during a critical platform rebuild: structured QA around financial workflows helped maintain reliability through ongoing changes.
Conclusion
MessagePay’s platform revamp required modern UI improvements without compromising the reliability of a critical payments experience. By contributing key loan and payment information panels and integrating them with backend APIs, we helped accelerate the modernization effort while keeping workflows accurate, stable, and maintainable.
The result is a stronger frontend foundation that supports faster iteration, a cleaner user experience, and continued growth for a platform built to help customers pay quickly—by text.
